seeking god
At Hodgson Bible Church we are very excited that God has made it possible for ordinary people to have a close and meaningful relationship with the Almighty God of Heaven. He created us and therefore has the best guidebook for our lives. You can have peace with God.
So if you are asking the question, "How do I find God?", the following four principles will help you discover how to know Jesus personally and experience the abundant life with Him. 1. God loves you and created you to know Him personally. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16) 2. We cannot come to God on our own. Sin separates us from God, who is perfect, holy. We need to admit , "I am a sinner." "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; The wages of sin is death." (Romans 3:23; 6:23) 3. God has provided the only way -Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again to pay the penalty for our sin and bridge the gap between God and people. He provides the only way for us to know God. "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) 4. Through prayer, we must individually receive Christ as Saviour, asking Him to forgive our sin and inviting Him to be the Lord of our life. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -and that not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12) When you pray to welcome Christ into your life, you are trusting that your past has been forgiven through Christ's sacrifice on the cross and making the decision to cooperate with Him to make you the kind of person He wants you to be.
